RE: Securing cabinets, drawers and windows

We connect the knobs by wrapping a KwikTwist around them. (They are sold at Lowe's in the same area as bungees.) They are quick to put on and we've never had a problem since we started using them.

RE: Good Sams or AAA

I have "AAA Plus RV" but I'm not married to it. Why is Good Sam ERS better?

RE: Good Sams or AAA

AAA does not cover fifth wheels, that is the reason you had to convince the guy it was covered. They will sell you the service knowing you cannot collect on it. Been there, done that, found out the hard way. Now have Good Sam.
I have "AAA Plus RV" and I've used it for my 5er without a problem.

RE: Blue tank use for black water??

I haven’t yet had the need to use it for black water. If you do, you may want to get the Barker Bobber Gauge, which screws into the garden hose fitting on the top of the tote.

RE: 5th. wheel "rocking"

Here's the way I make my 5er rock solid every time: I tighten my Rotochok chocks between both sets of tires, level front to back with the landing gear, install my tripod stabilizer, and then lower the rear stabilizers.

RE: greasing a FLUSH KING

I had the same problem so I called Flush King. The guy there told me to use silicone spray. I did, and it worked.

RE: Summit Ridge??

I have a 2007 Summit Ridge, but it’s not the Reserve, which is their top-of-the-line model. My model was highly rated by the RV Consumer Group, which is an independent, nonprofit organization that's been rating RVs for over 20 years. So far I’ve towed it 26K miles and have been very happy with it.

RE: Probably a stupid quesiton, But how to level??

I notice many are using levels near or on the pin box. Any links or suggestions on the levels to use?
Thanks
Chuck
I bought the Hookup Memory Level at Camping World and stuck it next to the landing gear switch on the side of the 5er. I use it to mark the position of the 5er when I unhitch so I can raise or lower the 5er to that same height when I’m ready to re-hitch, without having to get in and out of the truck. (The level has a pointer that you slide to mark the position of the bubble.) I also use it as a regular level to level front to back.

RE: Kin Pin Tripod?

I wouldn't buy the tripod that has the long vertical screw and cup that the pin sets in. That looks about as stable as a stilt to me. Craig
Looks can be deceiving. My tripod has the screw cup and it works great. In fact, I wouldn't buy one that didn't have that feature.

RE: Kin Pin Tripod?

My tripod stabilizer does a great job of stopping movement. I’ve tried setting up without the tripod, and the difference was very noticeable. When used together with my Rotochoks and rear stabilizers, my 5er is rock solid. Please note that for the tripod to work effectively, it must be set up according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Another plus is that it provides some security because the tripod cup locks to the kingpin with a padlock.

RE: Probably a stupid quesiton, But how to level??

I use Lynx Levelers. They’re more expensive than boards, but they’re lightweight and very versatile. You can get a 10-pack for about $30 at the Super Wally Worlds.

RE: Helper springs and weight increase?

There are no modifications you can make to change the weight ratings. They are what they are.
You can change the amount it can carry in many ways, and that is the question. The marketing numbers in the owners manual have no legal significance on this class of truck and have only a very loose relationship to actual capacity so it does not seem constrctive to play with words.
The specific question the OP asked which I was responding to was "...how much will it increase the weight rating?" I don't understand how my response is playing with words. I stand by my answer.

RE: Camp Club USA

I've had Camp Club USA for two years and Passport America for one year, and both paid for themselves very quickly. In fact, CCUSA paid for itself on our first 3-night visit after signing up. Both provide a printed directory and a website to locate campgrounds and review each campground's restrictions, which vary from campground to campground. I suggest you check out the websites to determine if they will work for you.

RE: Short Bed Dodge and 5ers? Removable slider hitches?

I have a Reese 16K Kwik-Slide, which has a BedSaver attached to it. The combined weight of the hitch and BedSaver is 184 lbs. The hitch head, which weighs 54 lbs, can be taken off the hitch, leaving 130 lbs to hoist out of the truck bed. This can easily be lifted by two people. If I’m doing it alone, I attach a come-along hoist to my garage door header, raise the hitch, move the truck out of the way, and then lower the hitch onto a furniture mover. When the hitch is removed, what remains in the bed are two rails that are bolted to the truck.

RE: Why Am I Nervous About My First Time At The Dump Station?

Goreds2. I filled an old boot sock with sand and place over the hose where it goes into the dump. This holds everything in place while dumping. (Be careful not to get "stuff" on the sock.) I also use this sock at full hookup sites.
I use the Hose Buddy to prevent the dreaded hose whip. The bottom is specially formed to surround the 90 degree fitting and the end straddles the hose. You fill it with water (1 gallon), sit it on the fitting and hose, and let'r rip. It never moves. When done you just empty the water, which makes it lightweight to carry.

RE: Steering Axle wts?

Upon further review…
My loaded 5er weighs 10,180 lbs and the pin weight is 2220 lbs (22%). The front axle carries 140 lbs of the pin weight and the rear axle carries 2080 lbs.

RE: Steering Axle wts?

BFL13,
I was referring to the percentage of total trailer weight (10,180 lbs) which is being carried by the TV axles.
